OBX Contractors

Effective date: 2020·  Last updated: October 29, 2026

This policy explains what information OBX Contractors ("we," "us") collects when you visit this website, fill out one of our forms (on our site or on Facebook/Instagram), chat with us, call, text, or email us. It also covers how we use that information and the choices you have.

We're a small local contractor on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We collect information so we can answer your request, give you an estimate, and schedule and do the work. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

- Website contact forms: your name, phone number, and email address, and, if you fill them in, your property address, whether the job is for a rental property, a subject, and your message.

- Wix Chat (the chat box on our website): whatever you type into the chat, plus any name, email, or phone number you choose to share.

- Facebook and Instagram lead forms ("instant forms"): when you tap an ad and submit its form, Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) sends us the details on that form. These usually include your name, phone number, and email, which Meta may fill in for you from your profile so you can check or edit them first. They also include your answers to our questions, such as the type of work you need, where the property is, your connection to the property, your timing, and a short description of the job.

- Facebook or Instagram messages: anything you send us in a direct message.

- Phone calls, voicemails, and text messages to 252-455-1179, which means your phone number, any voicemail you leave, and the content of your texts.

- Email to obxcontractors@gmail.com, which means your email address and whatever you write or attach (for example, photos of the job).

- Photos of your house or property that you send us (by form, text, email, or message), for example to get a "See it before we build it" preview.

- Job details: information you share while we work together, such as the property address, access instructions, photos of the work area, and scheduling preferences.

Information collected automatically when you visit our website

- Cookies and similar technologies. Our site runs on Wix, which uses cookies to make the site work, remember your cookie choices, and measure site traffic. A cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies.

- Site analytics from Wix, such as pages viewed, approximate location (based on IP address), device and browser type, and how you got to our site.

- Meta Pixel and Conversions API. We use Meta's advertising tools, the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API, connected through Wix. When allowed by your cookie choices, they can tell Meta about actions on our site, such as viewing a page or submitting our contact form. Meta uses this to measure how well our ads work and to show our ads to people who may be interested, including people who have visited our site. Information that may be shared includes your browser and device information, IP address, the pages you visit, and the fact that you submitted a form. Contact details you submit may also be shared, in a scrambled ("hashed") form. Meta's use of this information is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/).

2. How we use your information

- To answer your question or estimate request and contact you by phone, text, or email.

- To make a concept preview from photos you send us. We may use an AI image tool to create it. The preview is a concept image, not the final design or result. We will not post your photos or a preview of your house on our website or social media without your OK.

- To visit the property, prepare an estimate, and schedule and complete the work you ask for.

- To keep basic records of requests and jobs (for example, who asked, what for, and when we responded).

- To understand which ads and website pages bring in requests, so we spend our advertising budget sensibly.

- To protect our business, prevent spam or fraud, and meet legal, tax, or insurance obligations.

We do not send marketing texts. We will not add you to a marketing text list without your permission. If you get a text from us you don't want, reply STOP or tell us, and we'll stop.

3. How we share your information

We don't sell your personal information or rent it out. We share it only as follows:

- Service providers that help us run the business, such as Wix (website hosting, forms, chat, and site analytics), Meta (Facebook and Instagram ads, lead forms, and messages), Google (email and any spreadsheets we use to track requests), AI image tools we use to make concept previews from photos you send, and our phone carrier. They handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.

- Trusted partner companies, only to complete a job you've asked for. For example, a subcontractor or supplier may need your name, address, and job details to do part of the work. We share only what they need for that job.

- When the law requires it, for example in response to a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public.

- If the business changes hands, customer records may transfer to the new owner, and they would remain subject to this policy.

4. How long we keep it

We keep request and job information for as long as we need it to respond, do the work, answer follow-up questions about completed work, and keep records for tax, accounting, and insurance purposes. We delete or stop using information we no longer need. Requests that never become jobs are deleted after 24 months, and job records are kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.

Leads from Facebook and Instagram forms are also stored by Meta in its Leads Center under Meta's own retention rules.

5. Your choices

- Cookies: use the cookie banner on our site to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

- Ads on Facebook and Instagram: you can control how Meta uses data from other websites to show you ads in your Facebook or Instagram settings under Ad preferences and Your activity off Meta technologies. You can also learn about interest-based ad choices at optout.aboutads.info (https://optout.aboutads.info/).

- Access, correction, or deletion: to see what we have about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, email obxcontractors@gmail.com or call or text 252-455-1179. We may need to confirm who you are first. We'll do our best to handle your request promptly. We may need to keep some records when the law requires it, such as for taxes or an open job.

- Stop contact: tell us at any time to stop calling, texting, or emailing you about an estimate.

6. Security

We use reasonable steps to protect your information, such as password-protected accounts and limiting access to people who need it. No website, app, or phone system is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.

7. Children

Our website and services are meant for adults who own, manage, or rent property. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8. Links to other sites

Our site links to other sites, such as our Facebook and Instagram pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they handle information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our business or tools change. We'll post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we may also post a notice on our site.
